Melanerpes hoffmannii
Tortuguero, Manuel Antonio and Arenal are among the five atlas places where Hoffmann's Woodpecker is recorded. Records of this bird concentrate most heavily in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Panama. The atlas holds about 214,000 open records of the species across four countries. Because the records span every month of the calendar, it is recorded year-round.
Each bar is the share of its 143 month-dated grid cells with records in that month.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Hoffmann's Woodpecker as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
