Choloepus hoffmanni
The Osa Peninsula, Tortuguero and Corcovado are among six atlas places where Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth is recorded. Records concentrate in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The atlas holds 549 records of the species across nine countries.
Because records occur in both the northern and southern hemispheres, recording seasons differ by region. Each place page in the atlas shows the months recorded there.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
