Praomys delectorum
Mkomazi, Mikumi and Nyerere National Park are among the ten atlas places where the East African Praomys is recorded. Its records concentrate in Tanzania, Malawi and Mozambique, with 3,024 records across three countries. The atlas map for this member of the Muridae family reflects the entirety of its recorded range.
While recorded throughout the year, observations peak during July and August. The lowest number of records occurs from September through to June.
Each bar is the share of its 33 month-dated grid cells with records in that month.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the East African Praomys as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
