Potamochoerus larvatus
Garden Route National Park, Tsavo West National Park and Nyerere National Park are among the four atlas places where the Bushpig is recorded. Records of this mammal concentrate most heavily in Kenya, Madagascar, South Africa, Malawi and Tanzania. The atlas holds 1,696 open records of Potamochoerus larvatus from eight countries. These records also include sightings in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park and indicate that the species is widely recorded across its range. Travellers can explore these records to see where this member of the Suidae family has been documented by observers throughout the southern and eastern parts of the continent.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Bushpig as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
