Mastomys natalensis
Ruaha, Mikumi and Nyerere National Parks are among 16 atlas places where the Natal Mastomys is recorded. Its records concentrate in Tanzania, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Zambia and Congo - Kinshasa. The atlas contains about 12,000 records of this mammal from 23 countries.
Because these records span both hemispheres, the recorded seasons differ by region. Each place page in the atlas shows the particular months when the species was recorded there.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Natal Mastomys as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
