Crocidura hildegardeae
Tsavo West, Mkomazi and the Udzungwa Mountains are among the eight atlas places where Hildegarde's Shrew is recorded. Its records concentrate in Tanzania, Malawi and Kenya, though it is also recorded in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. The atlas holds 501 records of this member of the Soricidae family from six countries. Its map covers the full extent of these open records across East and Central Africa.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Hildegarde's Shrew as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
