Connochaetes taurinus
Serengeti National Park, Kruger National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are among the 24 atlas places where the Blue Wildebeest is recorded. Its records gather most thickly in Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania, followed by Namibia and Zimbabwe. The atlas holds 131 open records of this mammal from ten countries. Part of the Bovidae family, its records are mapped across a range that includes the Maasai Mara National Reserve and Etosha National Park.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Blue Wildebeest as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
