Cercopithecus mitis
iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Kilimanjaro National Park and Nairobi National Park are among thirteen atlas places where the Blue Monkey is recorded. Its records concentrate in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda and Malawi. The atlas holds 2,927 open records of this mammal from ten countries. Known to science as Cercopithecus mitis, the Blue Monkey has records across its entire range rather than just in a concentrated area.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Blue Monkey as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
