Atilax paludinosus
Table Mountain National Park, Garden Route National Park and Addo Elephant National Park are the three atlas places where the Marsh Mongoose is recorded. Its records concentrate in Senegal, South Africa, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire and Uganda. In total, the atlas holds 135 open records of this mammal across ten countries. This member of the Herpestidae family appears in the atlas as a complete range map rather than a partial record of where sightings gather most thickly.
These are open occurrence records, so they show where people looked for and recorded the Marsh Mongoose as much as where it lives. Cells are up to 25 km across, and every location is generalised to its cell.
Generalised encounter areas, not exact locations. Each shape is a grid cell coloured by how likely the species is there.
Conservation status not assessed here yet, so every location is generalised to its grid cell.
